In 1914, in an effort to promote education for women, Seva Sadan started a Marathi-language Teachers’ Training College for primary school teachers, which still operates today. As a natural progression, we established a Marathi Primary School in 1944 and a High School in 1960, with a goal to educate underprivileged girls from the local community. With the growing importance of early childhood education, we introduced a Pre-Primary Marathi School in 2000 for low-income children.

Learning through Technology

Our school provides a well-equipped science laboratory for practical training and experiments. We have recently introduced digital classrooms to enable students to visualise and listen to audio-visual modules based on their curriculum. At the High School level, hands-on technology encourages practical uses of computer software and, in some cases, coding.

If I go outside and someone asks me a question. I will have to stand up and be able to speak confidently. I must have the confidence to say what I know. Education can help you cope with life.

Outside the Classroom

Along with the SSC curriculum, the schools encourage participation in sports and weave in innovative programmes to enhance the school experience for all the students. An exciting new initiative introduced this year is a partnership with the NGO Just For Kicks. 20 girls from the Marathi School have been selected to form 2 football teams and will be trained in the sport while simultaneously learning life skills and values.
