Yojana Hate

Yojana Hate’s story is one of quiet determination and steady progress. A bright and curious child, she joined Seva Sadan High School in Std 5 during the COVID-19 pandemic, when learning had shifted entirely online. Her participation in online classes was inconsistent, and she gave varying reasons for her irregular attendance. It became clear that while she had a genuine interest in her studies, she lacked consistent support and guidance at home.

Recognising her potential and the challenges she faced, her teachers made a dedicated effort to keep her motivated. They encouraged her to engage in online activities, complete her assignments, and stay connected to her academic journey. When schools reopened and offline classes resumed in Std 6, Yojana was faced with several learning gaps, especially in reading, writing, and speaking. Mathematical concepts, too, seemed daunting. Yet what stood out the most was her eagerness to learn and her sincere, unwavering effort—qualities that inspired her teachers to support her wholeheartedly.

To strengthen her reading skills, teachers introduced her to storybooks and guided her with pronunciation practice. Fun games and activities were incorporated into lessons to build her vocabulary in both Marathi and English. In Mathematics, the teacher used teaching aids and digital boards to simplify concepts, especially in geometry. Worksheets and hands-on activities became essential tools in reinforcing her understanding.

This consistent support, paired with Yojana’s growing confidence and hard work, brought about a remarkable transformation. The same girl who once hesitated to read aloud began reading fluently, with both understanding and expression.

Now in Std 8, Yojana continues to do well. She recently presented her project with clarity and even spoke confidently in English—something she once struggled with. While there are still areas where improvement is needed, her positive attitude and steadfast determination are leading her steadily towards success.
