Our Annual General Meeting this year was more than just a formal gathering. It was a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate the many milestones we have achieved together as a community. As members, well-wishers, and friends of the institution came together, the atmosphere was filled with pride and gratitude for the progress of the past year and excitement for what lies ahead.
The day began with the presentation of the audited accounts and Annual Report for FY 2024–25. This transparent sharing of our financials and achievements was warmly received and set the tone for the discussions to follow. It was clear to everyone present that the work we do is firmly rooted in accountability, vision, and impact.
One of the most meaningful parts of the AGM was the operational review, where updates were shared across all our verticals—the Home, Schools, Skill Development programs, and Infrastructure projects. As we looked back on the year, stories of resilience and transformation came alive, reminding us of why this work matters so deeply.
At the Home, we celebrated the launch of Project Sitaara, which connects our girls with real-life role models from diverse walks of life, broadening their horizons and aspirations. Alongside this, we placed special emphasis on their health and emotional well-being, ensuring they feel supported not only academically but also personally.
Our English School reached a landmark moment this year with the commencement of Standard 10 and the granting of SSC Index Number for board examinations—a milestone that will forever change the opportunities available to our students. The involvement of Ms. Rata Gupta as Education Advisor has been invaluable in mentoring teachers and elevating the quality of education. Physical education, in partnership with Zen Sports Academy, has also added vibrancy and balance to student life.
The Marathi Schools, too, saw incredible progress, with all classrooms digitised and new collaborations bringing fresh learning experiences—music classes with the NCPA, computer and English language classes, and sports through Zen Sports Academy. The impact of these initiatives is already visible in the confidence and creativity of our students.
Skill development remains one of our proudest achievements. Our beauty class was upgraded with professional salon chairs and equipment, while partnerships with Kiro Beauty and soft-skills mentor Ms. Phiroza Contractor gave participants both practical expertise and confidence. In sewing, we not only modernised the classes with 11 electric machines but also introduced a unique blended course in partnership with Usha Silai, teaching both electric and manual machine skills. This ensures our students graduate with versatile abilities that can serve them in many contexts. Computer training, too, has taken a leap forward with MS Office and Tally courses supported by Datamatics and PAL India. These courses go beyond the basics, introducing students to Canva and even AI tools like ChatGPT, preparing them for workplaces of the future.
Infrastructure upgrades were another source of pride. The Water Augmentation Project, with new underground tanks and modernised plumbing, has significantly improved daily life for the 100 girls in our residential home, reducing shortages and enhancing hygiene. Malabari Hall, our UNESCO-recognised heritage space, underwent critical roof repairs, preserving its legacy while ensuring safety. And despite the redevelopment of Crescent Mansion, our High School with 170 students was smoothly relocated to the main complex, with adapted classrooms that ensure learning continues without interruption.
Amidst all these achievements, what truly brought the AGM to life were the stories. One of the most inspiring was that of Pooja Gurjar, a young woman passionate about computers and coding. With encouragement and resources from Seva Sadan, she pursued her dreams more seriously and successfully cleared the entrance exam for NavGurukul, a prestigious residential coding institute in Pune. With assured job placement at the end of her two-year program, Pooja’s journey is proof of what mentorship, opportunity, and determination can achieve. Another highlight was the empowerment of our own staff members, who participated in MS Office training, showing that growth and learning are valued at every level of our organisation.
Members were also invited on a tour of the premises to see the transformation firsthand. Walking through the upgraded classrooms, restored Malabari Hall, and improved facilities, the sense of progress was tangible. For many of our ex-committee members, including Mrs. Khurshed Pavri, Mrs. Vaijayanti Gupte, and Mrs. Umaima Mulla-Feroze, it was an emotional experience. Our President, Tanya Rawat, reflected on this beautifully:
“When you’re invested in these changes on a daily basis, you don’t always realise how far you’ve come. Walking our older committee members through the upgrades, seeing their astonishment and pride—it was heartwarming and a powerful reminder of the impact of our collective efforts.”
This AGM was also a moment of gratitude. We owe so much to our advisory panel, society members, partners, donors, and volunteers such as Mrs. Sunita Khandelwal and Ms. Anjali Sinha, whose time and support make our mission possible.
Our Managing Committee—Tanya Rawat (President), Sunishi Gabhawala (Vice President), Biyash Choksey (Hon. Secretary), Vidya Srikanth (Hon. Treasurer), Shonali Dube and Kashmira Dajee (Jt. Hon. Treasurers), and Members Purvi Gilder, Shikha Banga and Chitra Jain—has worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life.
The 2025 AGM reminded us that change doesn’t happen overnight—it is the result of many small steps, taken together, with patience, persistence, and purpose. And as we look forward to the coming year, we carry with us the reassurance that our journey is creating brighter futures, one life at a time.
